to Tokyo!

I saw Antonio Suwabe, live.

I know I often say I hate my life, and it's true. But sometimes I have these moments where I really love my life.

This weekend was very strange and busy, but also very awesome. A friend, another ALT in town, had a birthday, and to celebrate a bunch of us went to a dance club in Shibuya. Heh, of course, this friend is from New York, so the place we went to was Club Harlem, and they blared hip hop music all night long. .^^

I knew we were planning on being there all night, so my plan was to sleep in as much as I could during the day on Saturday, so I could be up all night. I managed to sleep in until a little before noon, then headed to Tokyo around 7:30p, meeting up with everyone around 10:30p. We went to the club and danced and drank all night, and I must say, being able to dance for five hours at 30 years old isn't half bad. Of course we took breaks, and I was dying by the end, but I felt rather not old.

Also, I got to freak dance with a cute Japanese chick. And I'm pretty sure she was asking me to leave with her, but I couldn't hear/understand her completely, so she eventually gave up. .;_; But it was magical all the same. XD

We left the club at 4:30a, stopped by 7-11 for snacks, then found an internet cafe to crash in (most net cafes are 24h). *chuckle* We told the people at the cafe straight-up, we weren't there to use the computers, just to sleep in the booths, using them as a cheap by-the-hour hotel. And sleep we did.

Well, except for me.

See, back in August Mew lent me her Suica card, and I've been using it ever since, but I knew she wanted it back eventually. She's in Tokyo all the time (like, seriously, several times a week), so I messaged her a few days before, asking if she was going to be around this weekend, and if so we could meet up and I could give her card back. She said she was going to an event on Sunday, and invited me to go with her, and it totally worked out, since I knew I would still be around. But the event started early.

So.

I slept at the net cafe for maybe an hour and a half, then got up, got some coffee, changed my clothes, washed up, etc., then left, heading to Ikebukuro. Turned out Mew had gotten on the wrong train on the way there (.^^;), so was a little late, so while I waited I got more coffee and a cinnamon roll from Starbucks. Then she showed up, and we went to the event. .... Most of which was spent in a long line, doing nothing, or in a crowed so crowded that we couldn't see the people we were there to see.

It was an event for a TCG that was also made into an anime, like Yu-Gi-Oh!, but... not Yu-Gi-Oh!. This one is called Battle Spirits. And there were tons of little kids around for the card game aspect of the event. We were there to see the seiyuu, and apparently so were a shitload of other (tall and/or fat) chicks. So the first time the seiyuu were on stage we couldn't see a damn thing. There were no chairs, so everyone was standing, and all I could see was the chick in front of me's nappy hair. There was going to be a second stage with the seiyuu, so for that we moved waaaaay over to the side, and got a really clear view.

And that's how I got to see Daisuke Ono, Daisuke Sakaguchi, and Junichi Suwabe, live and in person. =3

Sakaguchi is the only one who sounds like his characters when he speaks normally. Of course, he has a very distinct voice. .^^ OnoD sounded a little like Sebastian (as opposed to Shizuo or Hotsuma) sometimes, but for the most part, if I didn't know who he was, I wouldn't have been able to guess... who he was. And I didn't think Suwabe sounded anything like any of his characters either. XD But still, seeing them was super awesome. I totally want to go to more seiyuu events now.

After that we gallivanted around Ikebukuro, and I think this is the first time I've ever been there and not bought any doujinshi. I did find there was a volume 3 of the Play Boy Blues manga, so I got that, and a charm for my phone strap of Claude. At another store I found a little mini plushie of Shizuo. They also had one of Izaya, and I wanted to get both (you know, so I can make mini plushie hate sex.. (note: I don't actually make plushie sex. .... that's what the dolls are for XD )), but a check of my funds revealed that I could only get one if I wanted to be able to get home. So I took just the Shizuo one. .... Then three steps later saw a little mini plushie of Claude for the same price. Well, we had just determined I could only afford one, so this created a dilemma. So to choose, I handed both plushies to Mew and told her to mix them up behind her back, then I chose an arm and whichever plush was in that hand I would get. And Shizuo won, so I got him. .^^

Of course, I immediately realized that Mew hates Claude, so probably would have given me Shizu no matter which arm I chose. .^^; But it's all good - I'll go back for the Claude and the Izaya some other day.

By this time it was late, I was running on an hour and a half of sleep, and had been on my feet for almost two days straight, so we called it a night. After helping me get a Suica card of my own, Mew and I parted ways, and I headed home. Got super lucky and got a seat on the train right away, so didn't have to stand on my feet for two hours. Shower and bed as soon as I got home, for a good eight hour sleep that I didn't wake up during at all (very odd for me).

I gotta say, it was a pretty good weekend. .^_^

And that's how you blow $100 in two days.
