Well today was all kinds of shit. .~_~

Get up, go about getting ready for the day, as usual, turn to peep at my birds a bit, as usual, find Scar, my society finch and favorite...dead. Just laying there, motionless.. .~_~ And I'm man enough to admit I cried for a good 20 minutes about it, because damn it, I love my birds. Then I wrapped him in tissue paper and buried him in the backyard, next to Wrath and Hughes.

Went to school. First day of the new semester; first day of my new Japanese class. I rather kind of like it. The class is small, which is good, gives more personal interaction with the teacher, if needed. And the teacher is nice and friendly and very happy to help her students learn. Most everything we did today was stuff I already knew, but it's good, because I haven't taken any formal Japanese classes in a while, so I need the refresher badly. So while today was relatively easy, I suspect it'll get much more difficult. And I look forward to that.

Then work....

Meh.

I had issues with my work schedule. They put me down to work this afternoon. ... I'm in school Monday afternoons. With the exception of last week, I've always had school Monday afternoons. So all of a sudden they have me scheduled Monday afternoon, and I had a BIG problem with that. So last week I worked it out so I could just come in after school. Or I thought I did. .-_- I go in to work today, at 3:00, as agreed, and the shift manager is like "You were scheduled to come in at 12; we have you down as a no call, no show." Of course I'm like "WTF I had the time changed because I have school and EVERYONE KNOWS I HAVE SCHOOL ON MONDAY AFTERNOONS." Apparently someone was supposed to write it down in their super speshul, super sekrit manager-person notebook, but nobody wrote it down. So while they sorted it out and I didn't get in trouble or anything, it just PISSES me OFF that somebody messed up and I got looked down upon, even if only temporarily, for it. And it doesn't help that I suspect it may be the bitch that nobody likes purposely didn't write it down to make me look bad. .-_- Since she was the one there the day I got it fixed (or...tried to..). .-_-

But it did ultimately work out. And I worked a five hour shift with NO FUCKING BREAK. >=( (the law of Target says any employee who works a 4+ hour shift is supposed to get at least one break, but they seem to be forgetting this quite a bit recently .-_- ) And the whole time I had to deal with random bouts of wanting to cry my eyes out, because OMG my little bird died! .;o;

Not the funnest day. And I really really needed to get out on time so I could make it to the pet store before it closed, but OF COURSE I didn't get out until 15 minutes after I was supposed to. .-_-

But I did get to the pet store, and got myself another finch. This time, a spice finch. =D
It doesn't have a name or...gender...yet, though. I told the bitch lady at the pet store I wanted a male, because they sing. She said they all sing. Now I know for a FACT only the males sing - I have lots of experience with these birds, and obviously knew more about them then she does. .-_- So I watched them for a while, saw a cute one singing his heart out, and said I wanted him. She goes back, grabs the first one she could catch, and that's what I got. ..... .>_> I couldn't totally blame her for that, though, 'cause they all looked mostly alike, and they don't exactly sing while flying away in terror, trying to avoid the big human hands out to get them. So I'm waiting to see if he/she sings, but it hasn't made a peep yet, since getting here.

Further, when I mentioned I also have a zebra finch, the lady said "Oh then you can't put them together. Zebra finches can only be with other zebras, 'cause they fight other breeds." .-_- Dumb broad. I informed her my zebra had been living...closely...with a society finch for over a year. She looked...either like she didn't want to believe me, or irritated that I made her WRONG.

Feh.

Well, the new cheepy is home now. And it's really cute, so I hope it survives.

But that I've been through three birds in a matter of six months since moving here, I'm not too hopeful. .-_-

And it's not in the cage with Al yet - I've got it in Hughes' cage, next to Al, so they can [hopefully] get to know each other a little before I put them together. In a few days, when I have time to sit and watch them closely, I'll try putting them together.

That's the plan, anyway.
