So, my dad died.

I just found out a little bit ago, and don't have any details yet except that he passed in his sleep.

I might be flying back to the US, depending on when the funeral is or if there's even going to be a funeral. I don't know anything yet.

I don't know what I'm going to do, in the short term, or in the long term.


I literally just this morning, just a few hours ago, got back from a trip to Korea. I wanted to post about that trip and share pictures and talk about all the things that I saw, but I can't now. I wanted to bask in the afterglow of that trip, but I've just been blindsided with the worst news of my life.


He would have turned 68 this June. He was the second-youngest of my Grandparents' six children, and the first to die. He was morbidly obese and confined to a wheelchair. He was drugged up all the time, because he was always in so much pain. And he laughed all the time, but I know he was always so sad because of the situation he got himself in. He once told me, "If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself." He never planned on living a long life.

He had two biological children, two adopted children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

I'm kind of a mess right now.

Oh good, a vaccination site exclusively for young people.

So I'm too old to go to the Shibuya site, but too young to get a vaccine through my city.

And ya know what? At this point, I fucking hope I do get COVID.

I hope I get it and fucking die from it!


I'm so fucking sick of fucking everything!!

In the very least, Antonio is pleased that within 17 minutes of the day starting, I remembered it's his birthday. .^^

Ok, but how do I make layouts on Dreamwidth??

It's actually been over four years since I changed the layout on this thing. Heh.. I really loved the one I had before, so never felt the desire to change it, until this one was made. .^^
Now I kinda want to make a mood theme to go with it, which sounds like so much more fun than cleaning my apartment.


In other news, tomorrow is my last day of work before winter vacation starts. My annual winter trip this year will be to Ise Shrine in Mie prefecture, then a short jaunt down to Kobe (not for any particular reason, I assure you....), then over to Miyajima, to spend New Year's at Itsukushima Shrine, and New Year's Day hiking Mt. Misen. After that, I'll spend a couple days wandering around Hiroshima.

I realize, of course, that I still haven't posted my travel log or pictures from last year's Kyoto/Nara trip. .>_>

Last year I sent a postcard to my family every day or so during my trip, but they never said anything. I don't even know if they ever received them. So I don't think I'll bother this year. Of course, then they'll act like I'm some kind of asshole, as usual, when all I've done or haven't done is the same damn things they do or don't do.



Now, how should I do my mood theme...?

I enjoy that there is official art of Nagisa sitting on Rei's lap.

I'm pretty ahead of the target, I think, but I still feel like I'm lagging behind. I've had so many times where I'm like, I just don't feel like writing right now. It's sad.

Like last year, my progress bars won't accurately reflect how much I've actually done. Since I write everything out by hand, with a pencil and paper, then have to type it up, this is simply where I stopped typing.

I think right now I'm actually at around 15,000 words.

....

Yes, I wrote 15,000 words... in three days. .O_O
