Today is the best.
May. 23rd, 2007 09:52 pmToday was so great, I don't know where to begin to describe it...
Well. I was technically supposed to work today, but I've been bitching that they're still giving me too many hours, and my co-worker/friend was bitching that they aren't giving her enough (for example, next week I'm scheduled for 28 hours, she's scheduled for 12 .-_- ), so we were discussing this and..well, the problems kind of worked each other out. She took my shift for today. So she gets more hours, and I got a day off. .^____^
Finally! A day all to myself! No work, no school, no parties. Just me. All about me.
I slept until noon, then ran up to the store for some dog food. Then.. Well, for some reason I've been wanting to get a dress. Maybe the girl deep down inside me isn't quite dead yet; I wanted to be pretty and cute and girlish. So first I went up to school to pick up my German workbook that had come in, and sell off some of my old textbooks. I actually got a lot more for the textbooks than I thought I would, which worked out, since my next step was the mall. >3
Didn't find anything right away, but worked my way to the... well, one of those stores that sells discount designer clothes. Like Ross or Marshalls, but not (it was T.J.Maxx, for anyone who knows that one..). So they had good clothes, but not with the department store price tag.
But I have such issues buying dresses! All the stuff I like seems to only come in teeny-weeny-no-boobs sizes. But I have boobs! And hips! So I can't fit in the juniors sizes, but that's where all the cute stuff is. I checked the women's section, but they get all the old lady clothes. Then my other problem is that apparently all designers think fat chicks are also taller. This is not so! I'm a fat person, but I'm also short! I can't buy longer dresses/skirts, because they end up looking ridiculous on me, and make me look even shorter. Skirts that go to a normal person's knee goes just above the ankle to me, and that's not what I want. But shorter skirts, ones that would be knee length on me, fall into the first problem for me - they're only in the junior sizes. That isn't to say there's nothing out there for me...but the other issue is... I'm not willing to pay a lot of money for clothes...for me (different story when it comes to the boys.. .^^* ). So anything I could find that I liked and would potentially fit me was above my price limit. .... of $20. .^^*
Well, I sniffed around the store for a while, and discovered a hidden section of junior clothes, in bigger sizes! =D And actually managed to find two dresses that I liked and would be willing to pay for. So I was off! to the dressing room.
The first one, a floofy little white number, I totally adored. X3 It was cute and light (good for summer .^_~ ... hey, fat people want to be comfortable too!) and the floofy-ness hid my fat! =D ....at least a little bit. .^^ Problem was that since it was white it kinda...showed everything else. .^^* But I did consider maybe if I got a little shirt or jacket that wouldn't be a problem.
The second one as a brown and blue thing with a halter top that tied around the neck and a sash around the waist. I liked the skirt part, but the top didn't work for me at all. Not enough room for all my boob. .>_> And while I know certain people who would have no qualms about letting it all hang out like that...that's just not my style. .>___> I'm too old for that.
So the first one it was! =D But I needed something to go with it (for that top part problem...), so ran around the store a bit more and managed to find an adorable blue shirt that kinda goes off the shoulders. It was perfect! .^____^ And there it was, for the first time in years I bought a dress. .^-^
I immediately ran off to the restroom to change into it. .^___^
Then I just had to walk around the mall a bit, feeling pretty and showing off...myself. .^^ But, as a fat person (and this is probably a bit TMI.. .^^* ), without pants to work as a...sort of barrier, my thighs rub together...and that gets uncomfortable after a while. .^^**** Like chaffing.. So I stopped in another store and bought some short, white spandex shorts to wear underneath. Worked like a charm. So I was feeling pretty, and comfortable. .^__^
Next was a trip to the CD store, where I browsed around and discovered Erasure has put out a new album (!!!). The store had two versions of the CD... a regular one, and a special one that had two extra songs on it. The regular one was only $9.99, and I thought that would work out, because I had a $10 gift card (from the not-Pet Shop Boys/opera incident..) so if I got that one I wouldn't have to use any cash. .... But the pull of two extra songs..it was too strong. .^^* So I paid the extra and got the special version. >3
(note: when I got to my car and opened up the CD, I was pleasantly surprised to see "Limited Edition" written across the CD and booklet. =3 =3 =3 seems I got something really good without meaning to. >3 )
Went to the food court, as it was well past lunch/dinner time, but couldn't decide what to get. Then I realized, what better way to complete my pampering trip than with nachos!?! Xd 'Cause while most of the food at Target's food ave. is crap, the nachos are freakishly good. .^^ So I went to Target, where I got served yummy nachos by none other than before-mentioned co-worker/friend who was working in my place. X3 So while I ate, her and I talked and talked and blahblahblah. ::laughs:: (we do that when we're together - last week we closed together one night and after we left we ended up standing there in the parking lot talking for half an hour without realizing how much time had gone by. .^^ if I had made tea when we left, it would have been cold by the time we got into our cars. ;P )
Drove home with awesome new music, and came to a wonderfully empty house. .^____^ Seeing as everyone is still out of town. .^______^
This has been a good day.
Of course, since Erasure has a new album, I had to check to see if they'd be doing a tour for it, since that's what musicians do (I guess.. .^^ ). And sure enough, they'll be in Detroit on July 31st! .... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clearly... I have to go. X3
Now I just need to find someone to go with. .>_> Which will be difficult, as I don't know anyone besides myself who listens to them.... =( Maybe I can convince Née-chan or Jess to go with me.. (or maybe if I whine enough Tabby will come see it with me.. X3 ) But either way, we all know I have no problems going places or doing things by myself. >3
I'm so happy right now. I wonder, if I go to sleep tonight, will it all be over with tomorrow?
