Regarding fairies~
Apr. 3rd, 2009 03:18 pmActually, I've been meaning to talk about these guys for a while, but keep forgetting.
CE-VNN has actually been here for a long... long time. The company he comes from, LUTS, has two events every year, one in the summer and one in the winter, where if you spend over $300 you get a free head. Née ordered Fulton during the summer event '07, and got CE-VNN's head for free. So he (or his head, at least) has been around for as long as Fulton has.
Since I was already on a really good faceup artist's waiting list for B's face (that 11-month long wait.... .-_- ), we sent CE-V's head along with B's. So B and CE-VNN were actually painted by the same person. .^_^ And I don't think my camera does CE-V's face justice - the little flecks of yellow around his eyes are actually quite golden in person.
And of course he got a body, and has been sitting around as a complete doll for.. a year or so, I think. .^^ But since we wanted to introduce him with the bar episode, we then had to wait until that was built to bring him into the story.
But he's here now, and we're happy.
And then there's Luke. Luke is the first doll I've bought that I hadn't planned on getting years before actually getting him.
When LUTS came out with the LU-WEN I thought he was totally beautiful, but wrote it off as a lovely doll that I'll appreciate looking at other people's pictures of but never actually own myself. But then there was this big issue in that LUTS had released a Type 3 of their boy body, with more joints, and Née really wanted that body for Fulton. Except they weren't selling it as an optional part, you could only get this body with their limited dolls at that time - Breakaway and LU-WEN. If she wanted this body, she'd have to buy an entire doll.
I like to tell myself I was just being gracious and helping out a friend when I told her if she bought the LU-WEN to harvest the body, I could guarantee a sale of at least one of the heads (he came with two heads.......... ignore that fact for a few months.......), since I liked it enough. So she bought the LU-WEN, I bought one of the heads from her, and she gave the body to Fulton.
Because the Korean economy hasn't been faring any better than America's, many of the doll companies have been lowering their prices. This past winter, LUTS finally released the Type 3 bodies, and the prices went down so much that I finally broke down and got Luke a body of his own. (up until that point, I'd occasionally take his head over to Née's house and let him "stretch" by borrowing Fulton's body - he is now eternally grateful to Fulton, and would do anything to show his gratitude...)
His entrance story changed three times, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
The other funny thing about Luke is that I originally meant for him to be a very sweet and gentle fairy. I sent him to a friend to get his faceup done, and then he came home and... well, he had his own personality. Which was completely different than what I'd planned for him. It goes to show that the faceup can make all the difference.
So that's the story. .^_^
