I have pictures to post, but am not done editing them. So instead, I'll talk about the job situation.
The past few weeks I've been super-stressed because of the whole not knowing if I'll have a job next month issue. My company kept saying they were looking for a place to send me, but then other ALTs in the area were getting offered positions and I wasn't, so I began to lose hope.
I said before that I had a good interview with another company, but before I ever heard back from them I - at long last, being, just last week - was finally offered a position with my current company, which I said I'd take. Shortly after that, the new company got back to me and said everything was great, and they had a position for me... which I said I'd take.
So the current situation is I have two jobs. It's a huge relief.
Of course, I can only take one position, and since no contracts have been signed yet, I'm free to pick whichever sounds better. But I already know I'm going to take the position with the new company. Not just because I've been hearing scary rumors about my current company leaving ALTs stranded at the drop of a hat... or making them RIDE A BICYCLE FOR OVER AN HOUR to and from work every day... The #1 deciding factor is that the contract with the new company is for two years, which means I won't have to go through all this again for at least a little while.
So in March I'll be moving to Sano, in Tochigi prefecture. It looks like a much nicer city than Chikusei (don't get me wrong, I like this place, but...), with an outlet mall, and a movie theater (no more traveling for an hour to see movies), and is famous in Japan for its ramen. The apartment the new company is setting up for me will actually have a separate living room and bedroom (so they say), so it gives me a hope that it'll have a real balcony too. I figured I'd just leave my current bicycle behind, since it's been left out in the rain and snow so much it's now all rickety and rusted, and new company will be giving me a new one, so, score.
Also, the Board of Education there decided that since I know some Japanese, I'm to be paid an extra 20,000 yen a month! =D
In conclusion, I'm excited.
And, semi-related, I'm sad to report that all doll stories will be put on hold until after we move. Because it would be ridiculous to be like "Hey, welcome! Unpack your stuff! Ok, now repack it, because we're moving!"
