Finished Durarara!!, at last

sailorstarsunSo, about the Shizuo/Izaya pairing. I have thoughts.
Whether you're a fan of the pairing or not (and hey, most people are - like I said, at last a pairing I like is the popular one), it is undoubtedly canon that the two have very strong feelings for each other. It's just... those feelings are generally portrayed as hate. .^^
But I can't help but get the suspicious feeling that this is a case of 'doth protest a trifle too much'. They're always going on about how much they hate each other, so it makes me think 'Who are you trying to convince?'.
To put it bluntly, I think they want to fuck the daylights out of each other. Whether there's any affection between them.. hmm... probably, but most of all, I think they're sexually attracted to each other, and it pisses them off, each for his own reasons.
For Shizuo, I think it's because Izaya is a horrible person, so it pisses him off that he wants him. Izaya's done a lot of awful things to him and his friends, so to be attracted to him like that is infuriating. And being short-tempered as he is, Shizu takes it out violently, instead of thinking about it or trying to get over it.
For Izaya, it's probably more like he thinks he's above those kinds of feelings, so that they're there at all is what pisses him off. It's not that being attracted to Shizuo pisses him off, it's being attracted to anyone at all; Shizu is just the unwilling victim.
Either way, I think if they'd just get over it and fuck, they'd probably stop trying to kill each other.
Also, it's not just fangirls who pair them. When other characters in the series are saying they might actually really want each other, you know there's something there. ;P
Those are my thoughts, anyway. Just my humble opinions.
I've really got to watch the series again. I saw the first few episodes back in August, at Mew's place, then finally got around to downloading it myself, so watched a few more episodes... then my computer broke, so I didn't see any more for a month.. Then I got my computer fixed ann watched a few more episodes.... then it broke again, so I went another month without seeing any... Then got a new computer and finally finished the series.
In all, it took me four months to see the whole series, and I was seeing it in chunks. I went back and watched episodes 1-3, and realized I didn't remember anything that happened in them.
Will watch again, and see if my pairing thoughts change at all.
