sailorstarsun: (in my eyes.. - Tezuka/Atobe)

This past Tuesday was my birthday, and it was.... Eeh....

Well, just read.

I actually went to bed and woke up pretty pissed off. For the second year in a row I sent out a general invitation to go somewhere for my birthday, and for the second year in a row I was basically ignored. I had one friend invite me to see Total Recall, and another friend had been planning cake for months now, so I held on to that, thinking it was something, even if it wasn't necessarily want I'd originally wanted to do.

I had a dentist appointment in Ginza, so I headed off to Tokyo bright and early. And as I sat in the dentist office's waiting room, I got a text from my friend. He was suddenly feeling sick, so couldn't make it out. My other friend, who'd promised me cake, simply never got back to me. So basically, everyone ditched me. On my birthday.

Well, whatever.

The dentist appointment went fine, just had to replace an old filling. And because I'm a nerd, after the dentist took out the old filling and cleaned the tooth, she gave me a mirror so I could see, and I thought the hole in my tooth was the coolest thing. Like a little cave, in my mouth.

.... Anyway.

I paid the dentist (a mere ¥2800 - take that, retarded American health care system!), then went to Akihabara. For the record, I don't get lost there anymore (..... too much... ), and can find the DOLK shop quite easily. There I bought an outfit for Quincy, as he was (probably) the winner of our Olympic game (actually, I haven't checked the scores yet, but it's safe to assume he won). I also randomly wandered into a Book Off (a used book/game/CD/video/etc. media store), and randomly found a cheap copy of Sotsugyo M. XD So after being into that series for 11 years, I'll finally be able to play the game (once I get a new memory card).

Then it was off to Ikebukuro.

After a bite to eat (now that I could properly move my mouth) at Starbucks, I walked along Sunshine Street and hit up the many arcades there. They had these new, small, ridiculously cute plush keychains of various Tenipuri characters. Now, I know I say I hate that fucking series, but... they were cute. And Atobe. Cute.

And let's just say... I was having a very lucky day on Sunshine Street.

The funny thing is, I got all the others by accident, while trying to get Atobe.
And yes, that's the whole set.

They also had some Brave 10 card cases, and I really wanted the Rokurou one.

Again, all the others were by accident.

So, by this time I was feeling much better. Even if I'd been ignored and ditched and left to spend my birthday alone, I was still having a really good time.

And then, the best thing happened.

As I walked by the theater, I saw this big display, squeaked, and took a picture. In that order. The movie comes out here in Japan today (the 17th), so for a while now I've been chanting "Ten more days." "Nine more days." "One more week." And so on. I knew there would be advance showings starting on the 14th, but I didn't know at which theaters or how to get advance tickets. So I'd resigned myself to waiting for the general showing, though being able to see it for the first time on my birthday would have been kind of cool.

As I passed by the theater, I wondered if there was a chance they'd be showing an advance screening, and just happen to have seats left being sold to the public. And as I got closer to the ticket booth... by golly, it looked like that was exactly what was happening!

But I couldn't believe it, so I dismissed the idea. Surely those people going up and getting tickets had reservations or were seeing a different movie or something... right? Probably. So I walked away.

Then after a little while I thought how stupid it would be of me to miss out on the chance without even trying. So I went back to the theater, went up to the booth, and kind of sputtered out "アベンジャーズ・・・" They had two seats left, and were happy to sell me a ticket.

With my ticket in hand, I calmly walked around the corner, then proceeded to flail like crazy. I was so excited and happy, I almost cried. After waiting for this fucking movie for so long, I was finally going to see it. On my birthday. At Cinema Sunshine. *laugh*

I couldn't stop smiling the rest of the day.

I had a few hours to kill before the show started, so I wandered around, had some food at Burger King, made faces at hamsters, and so on. When it came time for the movie, I went to the theater, and saw they were selling these special collector cups.

So I got one, and some popcorn. The cup apparently came with a random figure in a mysterious black bag.

Mysterious.

As I opened it, I was thinking 'Please be Thor. Please be Thor.' And then...

It was.

The figure is made to stand on the cup. Nice.

Again, lucky day on Sunshine Street.

Getting into the theater was... a little odd, because there was nobody there taking tickets. It was just... walk in and sit down. It confused me, and I became paranoid that I was in the wrong theater.

But it started, and it was right, and it was perfect.

I had to hold back my squeaking, and the urge to somehow try and hug Loki, but in the end, I was very satisfied.

I went home right after the movie. I'd been up for a long time, on the go all day, and wanted to spend the rest of the night relaxing and reflecting. I bought ice cream as my final birthday treat, and concluded my day.

The end. =3

tl;dr version:
Everyone ditched me on my birthday, but I ended up having a great day anyway. By chance or luck, I was a big winner, and finally got to see Loki The Avengers.
