Oh wow, you're doing this long hand! That's amazing. I don't think I'll be able to write that many words long hand. Typing is the only reason I am able to do NaNo at all. ^_^;
Well, if you do get a chance to type things up, you can track your word count with word meter (http://spontaneousderivation.com/2008/02/06/6-word-meters-and-trackers-for-the-word-count-obsessed/) (or what I call a word counter) to keep track of your progress. The little bars fill up and give you a sense of accomplishment as you inch your way closer to your goal.
Or, better yet, sign up at the official site (http://www.nanowrimo.org) and it will track your progress for you, with daily goals and word averages and telling you how many words you need to write per day in order to win. My account is "twelve to midnight" if you wanna hook up as writing buddies. :D But be warned that the NaNo website dies a lot as hundreds of thousands of people swarm in to write and update their word count.
Once you hit the wall, I will be here cheering you on. That's what NaNo buddies are for! And go you for even trying!
