I've assimilated... sort of.

As you can probably guess, I lost my computer again. Two days after I got it back, it completely died again. And since there was no warranty on the repairs, that's a nice $700 down the drain.

Of course I'm pissed about the money, but truthfully, the second time around was a lot easier on me. Maybe because by this point I was simply used to not having a computer, but I think also because I had a much clearer idea of what to do. All the dicking around and uncertainty was gone. There was no more repairing vs. buying new to fight about, since obviously repairs were out of the question.

Good friends help, too.

The next issue would have been what kind of new computer to get, but a message to Mew asking for help turned into her doing all the shopping for me. She picked one out and put in the order; I just paid for it.

So that's how I ended up with a brand new Japanese laptop. I've named it Shizuo, because it's a "duel" core, but totally hates violence.

And I'll be living off of cheap instant ramen until next month.

And I still can't do everything I'd like with it, because I don't have any of my programs on it.

But! I can now look up shit I need to know, write my family, watch anime, video chat with my dog, read fanfiction, and make random posts on IJ and FB - all of which are Very Important Things, I assure you, that I've been unable to do for the past two months, so I'm satisfied.


So that's the story. I've been through three computers in as many years. Let's see how this one works out.
