I've been thinking more about Kuroshitsuji, and how I think things will end up playing out in the second series in particular. Just some hypothesis.
There will be spoilers, of course, so if you haven't seen the first series, or the first episode of the second series, go ahead and skip this.
Seriously! If you haven't seen it, go no further! Even if you previously had no intention of ever watching the series, you now do, so don't read on!
Ok.....?
Ok.
So.
I was thinking about the first Kuroshitsuji series, and how if Sebastian is soooo perfect, what is there to make an anime series out of? That's when you realize it's mostly filler stuff. Which I'm fine with. Of course, there's the whole plot about Ciel trying to find out who killed his family, but you can never really fear for his safety, because you know Sebastian is going to save him. Because who can defeat a demon butler? The death gods couldn't, Agni couldn't, and you think maybe an angel could, but s/he couldn't.
And that's something that's going to be very interesting about Kuroshitsuji II; even if those others couldn't take down Sebastian, maybe Claude can. Who else could defeat a demon butler but another demon butler?
(ETA: not that I think the whole series should be about people trying to kill Sebastian. .^^ it would just be very interesting if someone could)
Of course, we still have to see where everything is going, and with the second fucking episode being boring-ass filler, I'll be getting very impatient very fast. I want to know how Alois knows Ciel, why Sebastian is carting Ciel's [presumably] dead body around in a suitcase, and how much, if any, time has passed between the first and second series. And other stuff like that.
Now, to draw comparison between Sebastian and Claude.... Claude is physically taller and heavier, and generally looks older (of course in animu land this might mean nothing), but seemed less skillful as a demon butler. This makes me think either Sebastian is either actually older (as a demon), or that Claude is new to this 'let's work as our target's butler before taking his soul' thing. Also, Sebastian calls him a "second-rate copycat," so there's that too.
Personality-wise, Sebastian and Claude are quite different. Whereas Sebastian is very easygoing, friendly, jokes, and smiles, Claude is all stern. It's what makes the tap dancing scene so.... almost out of character (not that we know enough about his character yet to really judge). Even when Alois orders him to laugh, he doesn't.*
Which brings up my first theory. Despite the cheek-cupping I-wish-for-nothing-more-than-to-desire-slash-devour-you scene, I don't think Claude really likes Alois. And the kid's a brat; if I were a stern demon, I probably wouldn't like him much either. I think he just wanted to eat a soul, saw how Sebastian did it, and is giving it a shot (which would also explain the less skilled as a demon butler thing).
My other big theory is the very opening scene. Alois is getting out of a huge bed, naked, covered in bruises... and there's a naked old guy in the bed with him. Everyone is speculating that it's his father, which I agree with. And a whole lot of people are thinking his father was physically and sexually abusing him, and that's why he made the contract with Claude - to have Claude kill the father in a believably accidental way (plague), and Alois inherits the estate and title. This makes good sense, and I don't doubt the theory.
But I also have a side theory that the father contracted and died from the plague naturally, and Alois was sleeping with his father's dead body as a bizarre way of trying to commit suicide. But then where does Claude come in? Unless he successfully got the plague (hence the bruises), then changed his mind, because let's face it, the kid is clearly bi-polar.
But, after some thought, I do think the majority fan theory is much more plausible (as Alois clearly hates his father for some reason). We'll find out eventually, I guess.
Any my final, tiny little theory is that I don't think Hannah or the triplets are human. Maybe some kind of demi-demon or something.
One thing I know to be a fact is that the two master/butler pairs will fight. I can't say for sure who will win, but I suspect it'll either be Ciel/Sebastian (as Alois is far too mean to be a hero or protagonist of any sort), or there will be some kind of draw or, god forbid, they'll join forces. Or something. The creators have said they'll be rivals, but over what, I have no idea.
Right now they're apparently doing a bunch of flashbacks/dreamscapes, so we can see all the old characters, but at the end of the first series everyone was dead, so I don't know what will happen with those characters once they get back to the real storyline.
Of course, I could be wrong about everything.
But I can't wait to see.
* This, by the way, is probably my favorite scene in the whole first episode.
Alois: "Claude, you laugh too."
