I really really wanted to type this yesterday, but IJ wouldn't let me. So pretend I'm still stupidly excited. ;P

Also, I'm slowly getting to know the new Tenimyu actors' names, but I'll refer to them by character here, to make it easier for everyone.

First of all, I was not aware that the musicals' second season shows were the exact same as the first season's. I figured there wouldn't be too much they could do by way of the storyline - that's pretty set - but I'd thought these ones would be a new spin on the series. New songs and the like. But no, it was the exact same (I think... more on that in a second..), with the same songs and dancing and everything. And while on one hand I was looking forward to new songs, in the end it made me really actually feel like I was filling in what shows I hadn't seen live from before. .^^ So I wasn't sad about it at all. It was just a surprise.

Second of all... I haven't seen either the original St. Rudolph or Yamabuki musicals in a long... long time. .^^ I watched both of them only once, back when they first came out (winter 2005), so I really didn't remember much from them. The only way I recognized everything as being the same is because I remember the music, and Momo and Kaidou's gay dance that literally involved shoving things up the butt.

As for how they fit two arcs into one play, the answer is very very fast. I think they cut a lot of the non-essential stuff out. It was just match after match after match after match, with very few of the in-between scenes. I think the only non-game scenes were Sengoku stalking Seigaku and getting hit in the face, Inui describing the members of St. Rudolph, a somewhat creepy rendition of Mizuki stealing recruiting Yuuta, Akutsu beating up Kachiro and Ryoma, a rather hilarious scene of Fuji calling Yuuta and Mizuki taking the phone... and getting hung up on (and yes, he wore an ultra-gay, flowered shirt XD ), and Taichi crying over Akutsu. ... That's all. The rest was just songs and tennis matches. Which was fine! But... I still think each school should have gotten their own show. They cut out almost all of the Taka/Akutsu stuff.

I was happy that they did not put all the emphasis on Ryoma. He got the same amount of showtime as everyone else. In fact, I think Yuuta got more showtime than anyone else. ... As it should be. .^_^

As for the casting, it was pretty good. All the actors looked their parts very well. Kaneda's actor was spot on for the character. All of them had the look down perfectly. But none of them stood out vocally. There were no really outstanding singers, like the first cast(s) had. But... at least none of them were awful. .^^

At the end, when they were doing their bows, for the full-cast bow Akutsu somehow ended up by the St. Rudolph group, and so held a hand with Yanagizawa. I joked to myself about that being my new OTP. Then when they were done and everyone else had moved away, Akutsu would not let go of Yanagizawa's hand. XD The curtain closed with them still holding hands. ::laughs:: Totally... my new OTP. =P

Then of course the audience kept clapping for the encore, and everyone came out and sang again, then some of the cast ran out into the audience. And wouldn't you know it, Yuuta and Akutsu - the two characters I went to this thing to see - ran down my side. .^___________^ Akutsu just flexed, because he's too cool to mingle with the crowd or something, but Yuuta was high-fiving everyone he could reach. And since I was the third seat in, I totally got a high-five. .^__^ Then Horio ran by, but everyone was too busy looking behind to notice. .^^** (That is so his luck.) When I turned back around, Taichi was doing high-fives, so I got one from him too. X3

Then they finished the song, and the show was officially over. As we were exiting the hall, some of the cast were out, waving to the fans. I ended up getting a special smile and wave from Mizuki. X3 He, like... I don't know how to describe it, but we ended up making eye contact, waving at each other like children, and he kept turning to maintain the eye contact as I walked. And his smile got big and he bowed at me. .^,^ Maybe because I was the only foreigner there? But it was cute.

Hmm... Other fun stuff was, when they were doing their bows by themselves, Sengoku ran out and did a series of acrobatic flips. It was really cool! And then everyone after him ran out like they were going to flip too... then stopped at the last second. ;P
And, the very first funny thing was five minutes before the show started. Instead of some random staff member coming over the speakers and reading the rules, Mizuki did it. ... And then giggled. XP He was SO FREAKING CUTE.

And that's the story. .^,^ It was so much fun.

I think I totally have to do Hyoutei in the summer. .^_~
