40001 / 50000 (80.00%)

Yes, I did purposely stop typing at that paragraph, because I liked the number. .^^

"Only" 10,000 more to go. Could I actually pull this off?

edit -
Ok, stupid question but... If I hit the 50,000 words before the story is finished, can I still submit it to the NaNo site? Or do they require a real ending for it to count?

Because don't think I won't pull a "And then an asteroid hit the Earth and everyone died!"

W005! You are almost there! Bah, 10k words, what's 10k when you've already churned out 40k?

And yes, you may submit your story even if you don't have an ending. You can definitely write more than 50k this month if you want. It's also highly recommended to have a couple hundred words of buffer during validation, since each word count algorithm does it slightly differently.

Of course, if you want to really challenge yourself, you can try really hard to work your way to the ending by writing very bare bones plot, then come back and flesh out all the missing scenes/plot holes during December, which is unofficially National Novel Edit Month. But it's really up to you. As long as you have something you consider a novel and want to submit it for validation, you can! ^_^
