While looking for something to watch, lamenting the lack of a season two of Kuroko no Basuke, I may have stumbled across a gem.
There will be spoilers here, of course.
So, a while ago I downloaded the first episode of K, but never got around to watching it. It seemed interesting, but I kept putting off watching it, then NaNo happened, etc. But two months later, I finally watched it.
AND LOVED IT.
It takes place in the future, and is kind of science fiction-y. I thought it would be overly serious, but there's actually quite a few cute moments; it gets the balance between fun and drama perfectly right. The characters are amazing, and it has a really good seiyuu cast.
I'm bad at story summaries, but... It's about a boy who may or may not have killed a member of a gang. He's not sure, because his memory's been fucked with. He also might be the "Colorless King." In this future world, there are seven "kings," who have a color. The first king is silver, the second gold, then red and blue, and so on, except the seventh, who is colorless. So now this boy and the vassal of the previous seventh king, along with their pet cat-girl, go out to try and learn what really happened with the murdered gang member. All the while, they have to dodge the Red King and his clan, who were the gang the murdered guy belonged to, and the Blue King and his clan, who are kind of like the military or police and want the boy put in jail. Also, the Red King may explode. Or something. .^^
There are many great characters, so I've been unable to pick one as a favorite, but I'm leaning heavily toward Mikoto Suoh, the Red King, and Reisi Munakata the Blue King. Especially together. They have that delightful rival-esque, antagonistic, push-pull relationship that I love so so much, but with hints of being friends or something more.
I was especially grabbed by them during the jail scene.

Which made me wibble like crazy.
And they have a habit of getting way too close to each other.

Getting that close is unnecessary! Though much appreciated.
Though it's to a lesser extent, I'm also enjoying the relationship between Shiro and Kuro (a ha, I see what you did there...).

They're very cutesy.

His "wife" is Kuro.
And... that's all I have to say for now.
In conclusion, K is a great series and you all should go watch it right now.
I am now off to Animate to see what goods I can buy. =3
